Connect X, Notion or Evernote

Portable tools need no connection

Kindle My Clippings, Instapaper exports, legacy Pocket exports and Obsidian Markdown use the dedicated Transfer route. File bytes stay in the browser while you inspect them; only an explicit save sends the normalized object to Ratdolt.

Reader Mode markets these names as synced tools but its current Help Center lists only Twitter, Evernote and Notion integrations. Ratdolt therefore labels each exact file direction instead of inventing an undocumented OAuth or remote-sync flow.

1. Open Transfer.
2. Choose the Kindle/Obsidian research-file path or the Instapaper/Pocket reading-list path.
3. Review the full local result before any account write.

X intake

X sign-in alone does not enable commands. A separate consent lets signed reply or DM events turn one exact command into a private Source-linked bookmark stub. Reply with `@Ratdolt save` for one post or `@Ratdolt save thread` for a bounded same-author edition. In a direct message, share a post with exactly `save` or `save thread`, or send exactly `save {LINK}` for one policy-eligible public page. Conversational prefixes, suffixes and extra commentary are ignored rather than guessed. The source is composed later under ordinary limits.

1. Connect X in Account; this changes login identity only.
2. Review the four deployment statuses, then enable command mapping separately.
3. Send one supported command to the configured @Ratdolt account. A configured bot may confirm with one fixed source-URL-free response.
4. Open received X items in Dashboard; the Source-linked object remains private and unfetched until you deliberately open it.

Evernote file and manual handoff

ENEX import and export require no Evernote account, OAuth credential or provider availability. A separate connected account lets Research create bounded ENML from one standalone note or source-anchored highlight; local PDF handoff sends annotation text, folder names and the cleaned file name, never PDF bytes or a password.

1. Open Account → Evernote and choose Connect only when the adapter is configured.
2. Authorize on Evernote, then return to Research.
3. Choose Send to Evernote on one note or highlight, or use the explicit local-PDF handoff after annotating.

Evernote automatic highlight sync

Connection alone leaves automatic sync off. Opt in separately for Composer publications; one remote note is updated by GUID as its current highlights change, and removing every highlight moves that note to trash. A local PDF has its own per-document opt-in and never inherits the Composer preference.

1. Connect Evernote, then review Automatically sync Composer highlights.
2. Enable and save the preference deliberately.
3. Inspect queued, failed or last-synced status; reconnect if Evernote rejects or expires the credential.
4. Disconnect Ratdolt and separately revoke it from Evernote Applications when a live legacy connection should end everywhere.

Notion file and manual handoff

Markdown export needs no Notion connection. A separate public OAuth connection uses Notion's page picker and stores encrypted owner-scoped access/refresh credentials behind service-only leases. Research can then create one source-credited private page from a standalone note or highlight; local PDF handoff sends annotations, folder names and the cleaned file name, never the PDF or password.

1. Open Account → Notion and choose Connect only when the adapter is configured.
2. Choose the permitted workspace/pages in Notion, then return to Research.
3. Choose Send to Notion on one note or highlight, or use the explicit local-PDF handoff after annotating.

Notion automatic highlight sync

Connection alone leaves automatic sync off. Opt in separately for Composer publications; one Notion page and paragraph block retain stable IDs while revisions update their bounded source-credited text. Removing every highlight moves the page to trash. A local PDF has a separate per-document preference and never inherits Composer sync.

1. Connect Notion, then review Automatically sync Composer highlights.
2. Enable and save the preference deliberately.
3. Inspect queued, failed or last-synced status; one leased refresh rotates both encrypted tokens and retries an unauthorized request once.
4. Disconnect to request token revocation and delete Ratdolt's credential, queue and mappings; if provider revocation is unavailable, also remove Ratdolt in Notion Connections.
