Publish a profile, collection or reading

Opt in each public object and let Reading Commons expose only the least-data projection.

01

Explicit public identity

Choose a username, display name, bio, location, website, named social links, avatar and cover. LinkedIn, X/Twitter and GitHub destinations must remain on the provider they claim; Mastodon accepts a federated HTTPS /@handle. Birthday stays private unless month/day display is explicitly enabled, and the year never enters the public profile.

A profile, every saved bookmark and every collection start Private. After separate Public choices, the ordinary username page shows only those public bookmarks and folders; other owner Library objects remain absent. JPEG, PNG and WebP avatar/cover files are decoded into browser-only previews before save, then verified by byte signature and bounded to 300 KB or 600 KB.

  1. From Dashboard, open All tools and search profile; Open Account lands on the Public profile section.
  2. Make the profile Public, then publish only the desired readings, files, research and collections.
  3. Review the ordinary username route before sharing or embedding it.
02

Discovery and following

Reading Commons searches currently public readings and collections with stable cursors. Save Copy makes a private unfetched bookmark without inheriting another account's snapshots or research. Following rosters and feed membership stay private.
